Mobile Interior Design

It’s been a long time coming but summer has finally arrived. I’m currently on holiday in northern France with Toby and this break could not have come any sooner! I am very, very lucky to have a generous older brother who is letting us stay at his holiday house this week and so we are making the most of the sunshine, bread, cheese and red wine. Not to mention lazy days with time for reading.

I always find myself inspired when I come over to France. I absolutely adore French architecture (the historical kind) and as we are in Normandy, there is a lot of history to go around. I’ll share more in another post but true to form, I found my brain buzzing with blog post ideas on the drive down here as we passed rustic houses, quaint villages and brightly coloured gardens. Can you believe that I was actually struck with an idea as we were queuing to pay our road toll? We were behind a caravan and it got me thinking about decorating caravan interiors. I’ve not actually been on a caravan holiday before but there is something quite appealing about hitching your home to the back of the car and setting off.

The shabby chic/country style is a hugely popular decor choice for caravans. This style is easy to create with some bunting, fresh (or even decent artificial) flowers and plenty of cushions. If this style isn’t for you though, you can still create an intimate and cosy space with battery operated fairy lights.

The beauty of decorating a small space means you can also afford to splash out a bit more on wallpaper or fabrics as you need far less than you would for a room at home. I recognised this fabulous wallpaper from Cole and Son as soon as I saw it. It has quite a price tag for wallpaper but I would definitely stretch to it if I only had to buy a roll!

What are your plans for the summer? Any caravan holidays coming up?
